Student/General

Stalls are located throughout campus that are available to students, faculty, staff, and visitors. They are the bulk of every parking lot and are designated by white pavement striping. Student, Student/Housing, and Premium and General Faculty/Staff permits, or a Visitor, Vendor, or Contractor parking pass is required to park in white-marked stalls.

Student Housing

Parking lots east of Campus View Suites II and south of Campus View Suites III (G & H), lower North Commons (X), and 100 S 800 E (V) are designated for on-campus housing (only, due to full capacity), and are marked in dark gray on the parking map. Campus View I, II, & III, Chancellor, Tech View, Abby, and Morgan student and staff residents may park overnight in these lots only. If these lots are full, CVS residents may use upper North Commons (Lot W) and Hazy (Lot K) as overflow for overnight parking.

CAUTION: Housing and overnight parking is not permitted in the lots (E, D, C, CC, B, BB) west of Campus View Suites I, and vehicles will be cited for Overnight/Housing (Improper Zone) Parking.

Faculty & Staff (Premium)

There are reserved parking stalls marked with yellow pavement striping, usually located at the top of most parking lots. A Premium Faculty/Staff permit is required to park in yellow-marked stalls.

Economy

Parking lots designated as Economy are located around campus, and are marked in light red on the parking map. These lots serve as an economical option corresponding with the Economy Lots permit. All parking permits are permitted to park in these designated lots.

Handicap Parking

Stalls located throughout campus are marked by the typical federal insignia. Vehicles transporting a qualified disabled person may use their state-issued Handicap placards and plates as UT parking permits.

NOTE: Only vehicles displaying a disabled person’s plate or placard, and transporting a qualified disabled person, may park in a parking space that is clearly identified as reserved for use by a disabled person (https://dmv.utah.gov/plates/disabled).

CAUTION: There are citizens who have been authorized by St. George PD to drive through parking lots and check these reserved areas, and they have been authorized to issue citations, and they carry a $160 ADA fine. There is no valid appeal for parking in a handicap stall without a valid handicap insignia clearly visible on the vehicle.

Motorcycle

Motorcycle spaces are located throughout campus that do not currently require a permit.

NOTE: Parking a motorcycle in a reserved or regular vehicle stall requires purchase of the corresponding permit that corresponds with the license plate and owner/driver.

CAUTION: If parked in non-parking zones and/or in violation of other rules and regulations, the motorcycle will be cited.

Visitors (non – students, faculty and staff)

Visitor spaces are located throughout campus for guests (non – UT students, faculty, staff) to park in for free, and they are marked with green pavement striping. Special day-passes for guests are available upon request at the Parking Services Office in the Burns North Offices building within UTPD or online by clicking here.

NOTE: Visitor-marked stalls are for visitors to UT only, and not for students, faculty, or staff at any time for any length of time. Any student, faculty, and staff vehicles found parked in a Visitor stall will receive a citation for Parking in a Reserved Zone or Parking Stall.

Patient (community, students, employees)

Patient spaces are located at the IHC Medical Center, Booth Wellness Center, and Taylor Health Sciences for patients (community, students, employees) to park in for free, and they are marked with PATIENT word and white pavement striping and/or freestanding signs.

NOTE: Patient-marked stalls are for patients to the medical and wellness centers and dental clinics during appointments only, and not for students, faculty, or staff if not seeking medical treatment at the time. Any student, faculty, and staff vehicles found parked in a Patient stall will receive a citation for Parking in a Reserved Zone or Parking Stall that can be voided if submitted to Parking Services with a Doctor or Trainer signed medical letter.

Other Reserved Areas

Fire lanes, emergency drive lanes (individually marked or not), sidewalks and sidewalk access ramps, and barricaded or gated areas. Each of these areas carries separate fines per violation and are patrolled 24 hours, 7 days a week.

NOTE: Citations will be issued for driving or parking on a sidewalk or lawn, or outside of a stall.

Loading and Unloading

Temporary parking near building or area access points to load and unload is permitted on campus provided vehicle flashers are left on for the duration (i.e. for events). Once loading/unloading is finished, the vehicle must be moved; if moved to a campus parking lot, the vehicle must have the authorized permit or pass that corresponds with the stall it is parked in.

Note: the only time an appeal for “loading or unloading” will be considered is if the individual can show a valid need to park in a particular area to load, and show they left their emergency flashers on for the duration.

Bus Drop Off/Pick Up & Parking

Welcome bus drivers! On the Bus Parking Map you will find designated drop off and pick up areas located around campus and where to park for the duration of your visit. Please work with your campus coordinator to identify which drop off/pick up area would work best for your event.

Please note, bus parking is permitted on the east side of lot N (400-450 S 900 E) only for ease of parking and maneuverability.

R.V. Parking

R.V. Parking is permitted in designated lots during daytime hours only. To request an R.V., Motor Home/Camper day parking pass, submit the Pass Requests by Guest form on the Visitors & Temporary Parking Passes page and include “for R.V.” in the Reason for Visit. A PDF printable pass will be emailed to you, along with parking map and instructions in which lot to park your R.V. Trucks pulling trailers must remain hitched while parked on campus.
