Citations & Appeals

Any vehicle found on campus without a UT parking permit, visitor, vendor, or contractor pass, and/or in violation of other rules and regulations will be cited, and a status check will be conducted to determine the purpose and intent of the driver/owner.

CAUTION: Unpaid citations will result in a registration, graduation, and/or transcript hold. Excessive violations will result in vehicle immobilization and/or towing of the vehicle, and may result in revocation of parking privileges. Not all violations are listed here, and the absence of such is not grounds for a defense.

Pay Ticket

Online

Login to the UT Parking Portal with your UT Digital ID credentials to make a payment and view a digital copy and photos of the citation.

Note: All payments are made online in the UT Parking Portal and cannot be made in person or over the phone.

Tip: To see payment types available to you, you must be logged into your account in the UT Parking Portal.

Tip: When submitting payment, double check the billing address and change if needed; the form auto-populates your address on file with the University, which may not match the billing address for the card or bank account.

File an Appeal

If you think you have received a parking citation in error, you are welcome to appeal it. Appeals are online only and must be submitted within 15 days of citation issuance in the UT Parking Portal. If your appeal is received more than 15 days after the citation is issued, you forfeit your right to appeal. Appeals are reviewed by a third party committee made up of students, faculty, and staff, can take up to two (2) weeks from appeal receipt, and their decisions are final.

Note: Prior history of the same citation or warning type is not eligible for appeal or void, and will be denied upon submission.

Appeal Denied?

What happens if I get a citation and don’t pay it?

Each citation is entered into a computer database that tracks them. If a citation is not cleared by an appeal filed within 15 days or by payment within 30 days of issue, a $25 late fee will be charged. If the citation is not cleared, it goes to a delinquent fines list. Students who have not cleared citations will be subject to a registration, graduation, and/or transcript hold. In the case that the owner/driver of a vehicle is not a student, staff, or faculty, the registered owner of the vehicle will be responsible for the citation.

Referral to the Office of the Dean of Students

Beginning Fall 2023, students with three or more outstanding tickets will be referred to the Office of the Dean of Students, and a representative from their office will reach out to individuals to discuss further actions.

If appeal is Denied

If the appeal is denied and the fine was not paid within the 5 business day incentive period (pay by date is printed under the fine amount), the fine owed will be the Total Amount listed on the citation. If unresolved 30 days after issue, a late fee of $25.00 will be added to the citation.
